The locksmithery manufactures holders, consoles and display cases that are used to present exhibits or demonstrations in the exhibitions. They dismantle and assemble large exhibits and build supports for them if necessary. Some of the largest exhibits had to be cut up to be brought into the building and then reassembled on site.

The locksmithery also has a variety of other tasks. It takes care of building maintenance and ensures that doors, locks and the closing of door leaves work in the event of a fire. The locksmiths ensure that all climbing aids such as ladders and other lifting equipment are in good working conditions. Many railings and exhibit safety devices also come from the locksmith's shop.
