The Education Department operates across a wide range of fields: programmes for families, young people, and educational institutions, as well as science communication, the Kerschensteiner Kolleg,  and exhibition didactics.

Programmes for Families, Young People, and Educational Institutions

This area focuses on activities for children, teenagers, families, schools, and child care. The spectrum ranges from holiday activities and workshops to science shows, school and kindergarten programmes, as well as themed summer schools. Visitors of all ages can discover and explore the museum and its fascinating topics. A recent addition to this field is the training of our "Museum Communicators" as well as providing didactic support for our facilitators.

Science Communication

The science communication team is dedicated to conveying scientific methodologies and research results to our visitors. Our primary goal is to strengthen the bridge between researchers and society through various innovative formats. Understanding how science works helps people to better contextualise and evaluate current research findings.

Kerschensteiner Kolleg

The Kerschensteiner Kolleg is the further education facility of the Deutsches Museum. We offer professional development for teachers, early childhood educators, and students from various disciplines. Our courses cover all fields of the museum and specifically incorporate current social issues. As we offer overnight accommodation on the Museum Island, the focus is primarily on multi-day programmes.

Exhibition Didactics

The Exhibition Didactics team supports the museum in improving and further developing communication processes across all areas. What is engaging for which target group? How should interactive stations be designed to best support the learning process? Which formats specifically appeal to children? The department covers both museological and education-oriented research, as well as the transfer of these results—for instance, by advising exhibition teams during the implementation phase.
