The Deutsches Museum is one of the world's leading science and technology museums. The organisation is divided into departments and staff units. In addition to the main building on the Museumsinsel in the heart of Munich, the Deutsches Museum has four other locations. Specialist areas and departments

The museum is headed by the Directorate General, which bears overall responsibility and sets the strategic direction. It is supported by various staff units and the extended museum management, in which the heads of the specialised departments are represented.

The museum's tasks range from scientific research and the development of exhibitions to education and communication. There are the following specialised departments:

Sponsorship and committees

The Deutsches Museum is based in Munich. As an institution under public law, it is under the protection and supervision of the Bavarian State Government. Its purpose is education, science and research. The museum pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes. It has the right of self-administration; the exercise of state supervision is governed by general principles.

Research funding

As one of the major German research museums of national importance, the Deutsches Museum is jointly funded by the federal and state governments and is a member of the Leibniz Association. More about research at the Deutsches Museum

As a member of the Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz e.V. (Leibniz Association), the Deutsches Museum is subject to the Leibniz Code of Good Scientific Practice.
