From the Lilienthal glider to the Eurofighter, from flying boats to rockets: at Flugwerft Schleißheim, visitors can trace the eventful history of aviation – with more than 70 flying objects on display. School classes frequently visit the museum on weekday mornings (Tuesday through Friday). If you would like to experience "Mission AI" at a more leisurely pace, we recommend visiting in the afternoon.

History

Three historic exhibition halls

The three historic exhibition halls, now the buildings of the Verkehrszentrum, were designed by Wilhelm Bertsch in 1907 and opened as exhibition halls a year later. The halls symbolise the beginnings of ‘Munich as a trade fair city’ and thus represent an important chapter in the city’s social and economic history. However, as can be seen from the reinforced concrete structure of Hall III, they also exemplify the innovative building techniques of around 1900.
