Tailoring
Special work clothes are worn in many areas of the Deutsches Museum. If these are worn out, they are mended by the seamstresses. The work clothes are ironed after washing. Curtains are sewn and protective covers are made for particularly sensitive exhibits. The textile furnishing of the museum's eight guest flats with cushions and chair covers is also the responsibility of the seamstresses, as are customised items for exhibitions, such as the clothing of the mountaineer in the diorama of the special exhibition “ Chemie in Freizeit und Sport” ("Chemistry in Leisure and Sport"). Here, the mountain clothing from the 1950s had to be sewn and knitted in appropriate materials.
