Relax over a coffee or enjoy a delicious lunch menu. Our rooftop terrace restaurant is located on level 2 and offers a magnificent view over the city.

With 20 exhibitions covering an area of 20,000 square metres, a break and refreshments are urgently needed. The "Frau im Mond" is our restaurant next to the Astronautics exhibition. It can be reached directly from the museum but is also accessible from the outside area without a ticket. The lift is located behind the sea rescue cruiser in the museum garden.

  • Opening hours: Daily 9 am to 5 pm
  • Location: Rooftop terrace, Museumsinsel 1, access via the Astronautics exhibition level 2 or via the museum garden by the sea rescue cruiser

Breakfast, lunch and good coffee

During the museum's opening hours, Frau im Mond offers a breakfast and lunch menu as well as a selection of snacks, cakes and light meals. It is self-service at the counter. The restaurant is barrier-free and is open all year round.

Rooftop terrace with a view over Munich

What makes the “Frau im Mond” so special is its location on the roof of the museum's aviation hall with around 200 square metres of indoor space. There is also an additional 600 square metre outdoor area on the rooftop terrace - with a magnificent view of the city and the Isar. Perfect for a sundowner, it faces south. The Frau im Mond is also open after the museum closes and offers an evening menu and bar.
