The former mining exhibition, including the popular Visitors’ Mine, was closed and dismantled for the museum’s renovation. However, before it was dismantled, the Visitors’ Mine was digitally captured with millimeter precision using laser scanners and photographs. This resulted in an exact 3D model of the Visitors’ Mine, which you can now explore in virtual reality. Additionally, individual machines, conveyor systems, and technical equipment were extracted from the scan, reconstructed, and animated, allowing you to watch historical mining operations come to life in VR.
VR tour of the old Visitors' Mine, from age 14, registration via list at the Science Communication Lab.
