Our exhibitions and hands-on laboratories are visited by many people. Around a million people a year explore our building on the Museuminsel, from the Kids' Kingdom to Astronautics. The demonstrations and media stations are very popular and the seating is used a lot. To ensure that everything continues to work well and that everyone enjoys their visit, all elements of an exhibition require regular cleaning, maintenance and sometimes repair.

During maintenance days, our experts clean, maintain and inspect between one and three exhibitions per week. These are then closed to visitors from Monday to Friday. On weekends and school holidays, all areas are open.

Please check the schedule for the 2026 maintenance weeks here if you plan to visit the Museumsinsel specifically for an exhibition.
