The Microscopy Theatre introduces you to various microscope techniques and explains where they are used. Here, you can experience microscopy first-hand and dive into a world of fascinating imagery.

The microscope opens the door to the world of the tiny: the word is made up of the Greek mikrós (small) and skopeín (to look at sth). What we cannot see with our eyes becomes visible through a microscope – which is why microscopes and their related tools are essential for research today. Thanks to them, we now know how bacteria, blood cells and other tiny creatures and objects are structured. The Microscopy Theatre introduces you to various microscope technologies. Here you can experience microscopy live!

Open your eyes, touch and try things out! With around 20 hands-on stations and several push-button experiments, you can discover and experience the principles and applications of the science of light.

When will this event take place?

Discover which activities are taking place by checking our daily programme, which is published at around 9.20 each day. Our programme changes daily and includes guided tours, demonstrations, science shows and hands-on activities for individual visitors and small groups of up to five people. All programme events are held in German. They begin either directly where the activity is set to take place or at a guided-tour meeting point in the relevant exhibition.
