How do the many different cells in the human body emerge from a single stem cell – and what makes each one unique? This question is explored in a pop-up exhibition by scientists from the Epigenetics Community at Helmholtz Munich.
The pop-up exhibition is divided into three parts:
- Cell Identity Basics: What do we mean by ‘identity of a cell’? How is this related to epigenetics?
- Stem Cells and their potential: How do different types of cells develop from a single stem cell? Modern AI analyses can help to visualise this process, and it can also be used in medicine.
- Environment and cell function: Finally, visitors learn about how the environment affects cell function and identity.
The interactive programme is designed for young and old, with a focus on direct engagement with young researchers.
