This exhibition explores how closely human and planetary health are intertwined – and what happens when this delicate rhythm is disrupted.

20 March 2026 to 30 September 2026

Special exhibition area Level -1, Access via auditorium or lift

Our way of life not only affects ourselves, but also the balance of the Earth. This exhibition explores how closely human and planetary health are intertwined – and what happens when this delicate rhythm is disrupted. Yet, where risks appear, new possibilities often emerge: ideas, initiatives and visions that point towards a more sustainable coexistence between people and our planet. ‘One Planet. One Health. Our Future.’ invites you to explore the health of our shared home, to listen to those who are already working towards a healthier future – and perhaps to reflect on how you might like to contribute to positive change.

The five themed areas of the exhibition

Water

‘Water’ focuses not only on how this vital resource is a prerequisite for life, health and nutrition, but also on how climate change, pollution and overuse are placing increasing pressure on the most important liquid on the planet.

Air

In the area devoted to ‘Air’, you can discover how human emissions affect the climate and air quality, intensify extreme weather events and impact our health. We also look at ways we can make the air cleaner and cities more habitable.

Landscape

The ‘Landscape’ area explains how diverse green spaces regulate the climate and enhance our quality of life and our health. It also explores how green cities, sustainable agriculture and time spent in nature contribute to the healthy coexistence of people and the planet.

Materials

In the ‘Materials’ area, you will learn how plastics, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and other chemicals affect both the environment and our health. You can also discover the political, technical and material-based alternatives that can help to prevent the long-term consequences associated with these materials.

Biosphere

The ‘Biosphere’ area highlights the vital link between the diversity of life and human health, revealing the consequences of species extinction, the decline of insects and the spread of invasive species. It also explores how protecting biodiversity safeguards the very foundation of our existence.

Game area

Step into the role of decision-makers! In our interactive game, you can work together to develop ideas for a future full of possibilities, with a focus on human health and the boundaries of our planet. Make decisions, discuss goals and experience first-hand how different actions and their effects interact. The ‘Game’ area invites you to share perspectives, think creatively and try out new approaches – building on the themes explored in the exhibition.
