Project description
SIMIACCI (Sustainable Intelligent Management of Indoor Air Quality for the Culture and Creative Industries) is a European Union-funded research and innovation project under Horizon Europe, launched in January 2025. The project aims to develop sustainable and intelligent indoor air quality (IAQ) management solutions for galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs). Using advanced materials such as Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), smart sensors, and predictive modelling, SIMIACCI targets efficient removal of harmful pollutants like VOCs, NOx, and H₂S while reducing energy demand by up to 30–50 %. The initiative supports cultural heritage preservation and promotes climate-friendly practices in the cultural sector. The consortium includes 15 partners from several European countries and will demonstrate its technologies in seven GLAM institutions.
