The VC200 is an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) powered by 18 motors and rotors. The structure is made of carbon fibre (CFRP). The device can fly with a pilot on board, remote-controlled or automated. The VC200 was the first prototype on the way to becoming a commercial model. It completed its first public flight in 2013 in the "dm-arena" at the Karlsruhe Trade Fair Centre, and in March 2016 it completed the world's first manned flight of an electrically powered vertical take-off aircraft with official approval. Volocopter prototypes have now completed more than 2,000 test flights and demonstrated their practicality in global cities such as New York, Dubai and Paris.
