An aeronautical weather station is housed in a room adjoining the Kommandantur with a view of the airfield. In cooperation with a branch of the German Meteorological Service, which is based close to the museum, the aeronautical weather station demonstrates how meteorological measuring instruments function and why they are important for aviation. Receiving and measuring devices are installed in the open-air area for this purpose, and their data is displayed in the station room. This includes equipment for measuring visibility, cloud height and the wind. A weather satellite transmission can also be opened up on the computer screen.
