A special feature at Flugwerft Schleißheim is the so-called Glass Workshop. Visitors can watch staff performing tasks in the workshop from the gallery.

The staff of the Glass Workshop are responsible for the restoration and preservation of all objects in the German Museum's aviation and astronautics collection.

A wide variety of objects of all kinds are under the care of the aircraft workshop. These range from “simple” wooden aircraft with fabric coverings from the early days of aviation to modern fighter aircraft full of electronics. The demands on the workshop staff are therefore incredibly varied. Their levels of training and knowledge are so broad and diverse that they can carry out most of the required work on their own within the workshop, without external support.
